Steps

  1. 1Place Live and Neutral terminals, then a Type-C MCB on the live conductor.
  2. 2Place a heating thermostat, then the heating mat as the load.
  3. 3Wire Live through the MCB into the thermostat L-in, and Neutral into its N-in.
  4. 4Take both switched poles — Load-L and Load-N — out to the mat.
  5. 5Press Run, then open the thermostat: both poles of the mat go dead, not just the live.
Key insight

A heating thermostat is double-pole: it breaks live and neutral together so the element really is isolated when it stops calling for heat. Type-C breakers ride out the element’s inrush where a Type B can nuisance-trip.
