Cookers are among the heaviest loads in a home. They get a dedicated circuit, a control unit beside the appliance, and conductors sized for the rating — with diversity applied, not assumed.

Steps
- 1Place Live and Neutral, an MCB, a cooker control unit and an induction hob.
- 2Wire Live through the MCB into the cooker unit L-in.
- 3Wire Neutral into the cooker unit N-in.
- 4Take both switched poles out to the hob.
- 5Press Run, then open the cooker unit: the hob is isolated where whoever works on it can see it.
Diversity lets a cooker circuit be sized below the sum of every element, because hob and oven are rarely flat out together — but the control unit is not optional. Isolation has to be local, visible and within reach of the appliance.
Cooker circuits carry some of the highest currents in a home: terminations torque to specification and get re-checked after a heating cycle, because a loose connection here heats rather than trips. The cooker control unit must stay within reach of the appliance.
