⚠ Safety note

The jaws must close around ONE conductor. Clamping around a whole cable — live and neutral together — reads zero because the two currents cancel, and that zero looks exactly like a circuit that is switched off. Clamping around a single conductor of a cable also tells you nothing about the other one, so a reading taken this way is never proof that anything is dead.
