Single-Lamp Switched Circuit
The most fundamental circuit in household wiring. A switch in series controls one bulb. This is the exact wiring behind every ceiling light.
Components Needed
Text Wiring Path
Live → MCB → Switch → Bulb → Neutral
Schematic
Steps
- 1Place a Live (L) terminal and a Neutral (N) terminal on the canvas.
- 2Place an MCB to the right of the Live terminal.
- 3Place a Single-way Switch to the right of the MCB.
- 4Place a Bulb (E27) to the right of the Switch.
- 5Wire: Live → MCB → Switch → Bulb → Neutral.
- 6Press Run. Toggle the Switch to turn the bulb on and off.
Key insight
The MCB is always wired in series — it protects the entire circuit. The switch interrupts only the Live wire, keeping Neutral permanently connected back to supply.
⚠ Safety practice
These walkthroughs teach wiring logic in a simulator. Real installation work must be isolated, tested dead, and carried out by a competent person — in the UK, notified under Part P or done by a registered electrician.
