Bell Push

Momentary by design: it conducts only while you hold it, which is why the bell rings once and stops.

Terminals
  • Two terminals on a simple bell push — one conductor in, one out
  • Some illuminated pushes need a neutral as well
  • Button cap — the part you press

⚠ Safety note

Most bell circuits run at extra-low voltage from a transformer or a bell unit, which makes the wiring itself safe to handle. The transformer does not: it is mains equipment, mounted in a cupboard or the consumer unit, and it must be isolated before any work on it.
