Terminals
  • Positive (+) and negative (−) in the junction box
  • Bypass diodes — one per cell string, inside the box or laminate
  • Functional earth bond to the module frame
  • Tempered glass front — 3–4 mm, carries the mechanical load
  • Encapsulant (EVA) — seals the cells out of the weather
  • Mono or poly cells — typically 60 or 72, cut into half or third cells
  • Busbar and finger ribbons — collect current off each cell
  • Backsheet — the insulating rear layer
  • Junction box with bypass diodes and MC4 leads

⚠ Safety note

A module in daylight is live and cannot be switched off — Voc sits just above the panel's maximum-power voltage and rises in cold weather. That is why DC isolators, MC4 connectors that can only be separated with a tool, and working on the DC side after dark (or under a cover) are non-negotiable.
