Steps

  1. 1Place Live, Neutral, MCB, a Dimmer Switch, and a Bulb.
  2. 2Wire: Live → MCB → Dimmer (L-in) → Dimmer (L-out) → Bulb → Neutral.
  3. 3Press Run — the bulb is powered through the dimmer.
  4. 4Toggle the Dimmer to see the controlled state.
Key insight

In real installations, a dimmer switch must be matched to the bulb type — trailing-edge for LED, leading-edge for incandescent/halogen. Never connect a Dimmer Switch to a motor or fan (use a Fan Dimmer instead).

⚠ Safety practice

These walkthroughs teach wiring logic in a simulator. Real installation work must be isolated, tested dead, and carried out by a competent person — in the UK, notified under Part P or done by a registered electrician.
