ElectraSim v1.6: Dark Mode, RCBOs, and Smarter Switching
ElectraSim v1.6 makes the simulator more comfortable to use, adds another important protection device, and improves the way people find learning material across the website.
The update also makes it easier to understand how ElectraSim differs from electronics simulators that are built for other kinds of work.
Dark Mode Across ElectraSim
Dark mode now covers both the simulator and the learning website.
In the app, you can choose Light, Dark, or System in Settings. System mode follows the appearance selected on your device. The remaining menus, documentation screens, and phone controls now follow that choice too.
The website has its own theme button in the main navigation. Your choice is remembered when you move between articles and other website pages.
This gives you a calmer view in low light while keeping diagrams, controls, and written guides easy to read.
A New RCBO Component
The component palette now includes an RCBO.
An RCBO combines two common forms of circuit protection in one device. It is often used to protect an individual circuit in a modern consumer unit. In ElectraSim, it switches both live and neutral together, which makes it useful for practising protected lighting, socket, and appliance layouts.
ElectraSim shows how the device connects within a circuit. It does not calculate real fault current or replace the selection and testing required for an electrical installation.
A Push Button That Works Like a Push Button
The existing Push Button now behaves as a momentary switch.
Press and hold it to close the circuit. Release it and the circuit opens again. This is the familiar action used for doorbells and many control circuits, and it now works with a pointer or keyboard.
Clear Pressed and Released labels make the current state easier to understand.
A Fair Circuit Simulator Comparison
Different circuit simulators are designed for different jobs. Some focus on electronic calculations, some on breadboards and microcontrollers, and others on classroom experiments.
The new online circuit simulator comparison explains those differences in plain language. It compares ElectraSim with CircuitLab, Tinkercad Circuits, EveryCircuit, Falstad, and DCACLab using information from their official websites.
It also explains ElectraSim’s limits. ElectraSim is designed for learning practical electrical wiring. It does not replace professional circuit-design software, safe isolation, inspection, testing, or work by a qualified electrician.
App Updates and Learning Articles Are Easier to Find
The blog index now gives App Updates and electrical learning articles their own clear sections.
Release news is easier to recognise, while wiring guides, safety articles, and explanations remain easy to browse. Existing article addresses and blog page links have not changed.
Familiar Tools, Better Starting Behaviour
The tools you already use remain in place. Guided Circuits, fault simulation, smart and custom wiring, local saving, offline use, exports, and share links continue to work as before.
New protection components also begin in their intended ready position, so a newly placed circuit behaves more naturally without an extra first click.
